What is written

You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.

Deuteronomy 25:4

You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.

The practical question

Both are brief, and both become live the moment a household works animals rather than machinery.

The first is an ethic of the working animal: it eats while it works. The second governs pairing. Practical questions: what counts as unequal pairing today, does it extend beyond ploughing, and how do modern harness and equipment change the picture, if at all?
