What is settled, what is open, what is ruled out
Standards
This page is public. Anyone may read it without an account, and reading it commits you to nothing.
Only the first list is affirmed at signup. It is deliberately short. The second and third are published so you can see exactly where this assembly allows disagreement and exactly what it has already weighed.
The full belief set is a separate page. Everything this ministry holds, including the parts that cost readers, is set out at what we believe. Disclosure and a test of entry are two different things. Someone can keep orlah on his apple trees alongside you without having settled the 1290 days.
The precedent
For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Acts 15:21
The council set a short entry standard for incoming gentiles, then trusted weekly teaching to carry them the rest of the way. Low door, high ceiling. The standard does not sit at the door. It sits at the entrance to the assembly.
1. Settled
Affirmed to join the assembly. This is the walk, not the whole system.
- Torah is binding. It was not abolished.
- Sin is the transgression of Torah. 1 John 3:4.
- The seventh-day Sabbath, kept from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.
- The appointed times of Leviticus 23.
- The dietary instructions of Leviticus 11.
- Repentance from sin unto death. 1 John 5:16 and 17.
- Faith and obedience. Salvation is not a one-time prayer.
2. Open
Genuine questions where members may disagree freely and remain in full fellowship. This list is as important as the first one, and it is published at the same weight on purpose.
- The wound of the beast. Two arrangements exist and neither is taught as settled.
- The 2300 day count. An honest conflict under the uniform crossing rule.
- The 476/538 pattern. Supporting witness only, with its caveats printed.
- The Yom Teruah idiom on Matthew 24:36. An active thread, not a settled reading.
- The agricultural commands. Kilayim, orlah, shmita, gleaning, tithes and firstfruits. Faithful people who agree on everything above still differ here, on whether a command applies outside the Land and on what counts as sowing, mixing, or a corner. See Torah on the land.
3. Ruled out
Examined and set aside. Stated without heat.
- The Trinity. It traces to Nicaea, a council of men. It is not in the text.
- The hypostatic union. It traces to Chalcedon.
- Torah abolished. If Torah is gone, sin has no definition.
- Eternal conscious torment. The wicked are destroyed and cease.
- Christmas and Easter. Pagan in origin, and not commanded.
- The rapture. Invented in the 1800s. Not in Scripture.
- Preterism and futurism. Both rejected in favour of historicism.
- The mark as a chip or implant. The mark is spiritual allegiance. Forehead is belief, hand is action.
- Dawn-to-dawn Sabbath reckoning. The day runs evening to evening.
